This fast-paced, inspiring, fun, confidence-building, hands-on workshop is for individuals and teams committed to improving their skills as facilitative leaders.
No previous facilitation experience is required.


This professional development training will focus on the what, the how and the who of successful group process, including:

  • Agenda Planning: Start on time, end on time, not boring in between
  • Presence: Stand with confidence in front of the room - even if you’re shy
  • Dealing with “difficult” participants: Manage over-talkers, energy vampires, drama queens, know-it-alls and the very, very quiet ̶ successfully!
  • Collaborating with internal or external clients: Add value from the first conversation
  • Leadership: Because it’s time for you to step up and grab the marker
  • At the end of this course, you will have a clear idea of what it takes to
    • improve efficiency
    • stimulate creativity
    • increase satisfaction in “everyday” meetings at work or in your community.

If you are inspired to go further, IIFAC offers a Certificate Program in Professional Facilitation. This year-long process involves three face-to-face modules of three days each, with assignments and virtual sessions between Modules 1 and 2. Module 1 is open to all and is required in order to participate in the rest of the program.

 

Module 1: Leading Effective Meetings
Module 2: Dealing with strong emotions, conflict and decision-making
Module 3: Techniques for complex and/or specialized situations

 

The contents are designed around the six competencies defined by the International Association of Facilitators

 

  • • Create collaborative client relations
    • Plan appropriate group processes
    • Create and sustain a participatory environment
    • Guide group to appropriate and useful outcomes
    • Build and maintain professional knowledge
    • Model positive professional attitude

The instructors for Leading Effective Meetings are experienced trainers and facilitators who are passionate about meetings of all kinds.

 

They have worked in corporate headquarters, community centers, university halls, church basements, government buildings, hotel banquet rooms, open-air pavilions, tents, yurts, and ballrooms.

 

They have led groups who were grappling with issues ranging from day-to-day problem solving, strategic planning, dialog and discussion, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
